INJURIES continue to compound Swindon Town's miserable run of form.

Fabien Robert, who limped off in the first half of the defeat at Blackpool with an ankle knock, and Jordan Williams, who has returned to Liverpool with fluid on his knee, are the latest two to go down.

They join Nathan Thompson and Wes Thomas to make it four first team players that boss Mark Cooper has to go without.

The injury to Williams, announced via Instagram on Friday evening, leaves Cooper short of defensive options.

Speaking after his side's 1-0 loss at Bloomfield Road, Cooper revealed he will have to ask chairman Lee Power to go back into the emergency loan market in order to plug the hole left by Willliams' absence.

“(Williams) has gone back to Liverpool for the foreseeable future and I don’t think we’ll be seeing him for a while,” Cooper told the local media.

“We have to (consider getting an emergency loan in) because we don’t have any cover at centre-back. We only have two centre-backs, so we are now actively looking for a centre-back.”

Robert will undergo full examination today, but given Town travel to Oxford on Tuesday for the derby it is unlikely he will be made available for that.

“Fab looks as though he’s got a bad ankle injury, so we’ll get that scanned,” added the Robins’ Chief.

“It was a tackle. Until we get it scanned and see how it settles down over night, we can’t really tell (the full extent of the injury).

“We’ve lost him, we’ve lost Jordan Williams back to Liverpool, Nathan (Thompson) is still out, Wes Thomas is still out. So we’ve got four of our big players missing.”
