FORMER Swindon Town player Dave Hockaday took charge of his first game as Kidderminster Harriers head coach yesterday.
The 57-year-old took over from Gary Whild, who left the National League club last month, at the end of last week and was on the sidelines for Harriers’ 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.
Hockaday, who had a spell as assistant coach to Dave Webb at Swindon Supermarine last season, has a big task on his hands as Kidderminster sit bottom of the table, without a win, and five points from safety.
"Dave has an enviable reputation as a coach within the game," said Kidderminster chairman Rod Brown following the appointment.
Hockaday expressed his joy at being back coaching and says he is ready for the challenge.
"To be given the opportunity to get back out on to the grass - that's something I have been waiting for,” he said.
"I am a coach - that's what my reputation is and that's what I am known as.
"Kidderminster have always been a big name at this level and this is a big challenge - it's one I am relishing and one I am looking forward to."
