TOWN boss Martin Ling was most happy with his side’s clean sheet, despite their excellent forward play in the 4-0 win at Chesterfield.

It was the first shut-out since the 1-0 win at Roots Hall back in August and it meant that Town also recorded their first back-to-back league wins this season.

Lawrence Vigouroux was called on to make a number of saves and the four defenders in front of him chucked themselves in front of goalbound efforts all game.

That effort meant that Nicky Ajose’s double, Louis Thompson’s second goal in two games and Jonathan Obika’s strike saw Swindon chalk up four goals in a near-complete display.

Although the goals delighted Ling, he reserved the most praise for his team performance at the other end.

“The clean sheet, that’s important, the fact that we retained the ball and every time we had a chance we were clinical,” Ling told the local media.

“We started the game really well, really sharp and bright. We got two goals in front and saw the half out and came out in the second half with Jon scoring early.

“We defend as an XI and we attack as an XI. The defenders took part in the four goals and the front two, I thought, worked tirelessly in terms of being our first main port defence and I think that really helped us.

““The training and everything around the training ground has been spot on after the Walsall game. We talked about back-to-back performances and we talked about a complete performance and I think that was both of those today.”
