COLCHESTER United chief Kevin Keen thinks Swindon Town are not out of the relegation fight ahead of their showdown today.

Town have taken just two of the last 12 points available in League One and are 17th in the table.

Although they still have a seven-point cushion to the drop zone, a bad result at the Colchester Community Stadium will make things a little nervier for Luke Williams’ side.

Bottom side Colchester face a potentially pivotal period in their fight for survival as, following the Town game, they also host 19th-placed Chesterfield on Tuesday.

Keen, who is seeking a first league win as U’s boss since taking over just before Christmas, thinks both teams should be worried about being drawn into the battle at the bottom.

“Swindon and Chesterfield are probably looking over their shoulder at the bottom four,” said Keen.

“Swindon are on a strange little run.

“I saw them a couple of weeks ago and thought they were a really good footballing team.

“They’ve obviously changed their manager and that can affect performances, but in this league anyone can beat anyone so they’re going to be two tough games. We could do with a win - that’s for sure.

“These are two big home games against sides in and around us, so let’s stay positive, have a real go and try and win them both.

“Getting back-to-back wins would make a massive difference for us and close up the daylight between ourselves and the sides just above us.”
