ON-LOAN goalkeeper Jake Kean did not think Swindon Town got their just rewards after his debut ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Bury on Saturday.

The contest lacked genuine quality throughout and the teams only mustered six shots on target between them throughout the 90 minutes.

The decisive moment came just after the hour mark when Danny Mayor outmuscled Brad Barry to head home a Craig Jones cross at the back post.

Bury had gone closest to a goal before that, with Kean tipping over an effort from Leon Clarke after the former Town striker beat the offside trap.

Other than those chances, Kean thought it was a relatively trouble-free afternoon for Town and believes the hosts should have had something to show for their efforts.

“Overall, I thought we looked very good. To be honest, I don’t think they had a lot about them and I think we were very unlucky,” Kean told the local media.

“Aside from the save I made in the first half, I didn’t feel like me or the lads at the back were ever going to really be threatened and to be honest, I’ve watched (the goal) back and I think it’s a free-kick.

“The form speaks for itself but the lads look good, feel sharp, and training has been brilliant the last couple of days. I feel we were very unlucky with how it played out.”

Kean had only arrived in Swindon two days prior to Saturday’s game, having joined on an emergency loan from Premier League side Norwich after Tyrell Belford joined Town’s regular number one Lawrence Vigouroux on the injury list.

With his opportunities limited at the Canaries, Kean jumped at the chance to get some match-time under his belt and has been impressed by what he has seen in his brief stint at Swindon.

“I got told on Wednesday afternoon after training with Norwich and then it was all up in the air a little bit,” added Kean.

“It’s been a bit of a tough situation for myself at Norwich with how John (Ruddy) and Declan (Rudd) have done, so I just want to get out and play as many games as I can.

“I have played against Swindon a couple of times in various other loan spells and I have always been impressed with how they carry themselves.

“The lads here haven’t resigned themselves to anything. They’re all very confident and they won’t change the way they are playing, regardless of anything else and I think it’s a good dressing room.”
