MILES Storey is being tipped to be a success in the Scottish Premier League by Swindon Town manager Luke Williams.

The 22-year-old will join Aberdeen at the start of the July after his contract at the County Ground expires having spent last season on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Storey scored 13 goals north of the border last term and Williams is not surprised to see him doing well.

“First and foremost because Miles is a terrific player and a terrific lad,” he told BBC Wiltshire.

“I think we sent Miles to get a bit of first-team experience and the idea is normally that the player with the experience behind them will come back and be able to challenge (for a place in the team).

“But I think he probably did so well there that he has put himself in a position where he can start to become an established first team player in Scotland and I think the football suits him.

“He is very quick and can get in behind a back four and he can cause all sorts of problems.

“I think Inverness have played to his strengths and it has worked out perfectly for him.”

Meanwhile, the future of Michael Smith, who spent two loan spells away from Swindon last year at Barnsley and Portsmouth, is still up in the air.

Swindon activated the year extension on his contract before the end of the season but Williams has said it will take time this summer before he knows if he will be spending that year in Swindon or elsewhere.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure,” he added. “There are plenty of things that could happen for Michael but we’re probably going to have to wait a little bit longer to see where his future lies.”

The Football League announced their team of the season yesterday with Town’s Nicky Ajose included.
