SWINDON Town's interest in signing midfielder Harry Beautyman from Peterborough may be fading, according to reports.

The Swindon Advertiser reported last week that Town were keen on the 24 year old, with Posh director of football Barry Fry claiming that both the player and the County Ground club wanting to make the move happen.

Beautyman, 24, has been placed on the transfer list by Town’s League One rivals, with new Posh boss Grant McCann leaving the player out of their pre-season training camp in Portugal after telling him he didn’t feature in his plans for the 2016-17 League One campaign.

Fry revealed that Swindon’s interest was concrete but that no fee had yet been agreed between the clubs. However, according to reports in Peterborough today, any possible deal may now have stalled with Town's interest apparently waning.

Beautyman has made 45 Posh appearances since joining the club from non-league side Welling in 2014, scoring five goals, three of them last season.

Fry told PoshTV last week: “We’ve had a lot of enquiries about him (Beautyman) but the main one is from Swindon.

“The Swindon manager (Luke Williams) fancies him very strong(ly). Harry obviously would like to go there.

“I spoke to Lee Power about the situation over in Portugal a couple of weeks ago at the chairmens’ thing (Football League meeting). He’s got plenty of money, Lee. He’s done brilliant(ly) on (Nicky) Ajose and got £800,000.

“He thought he had a big sell-on (clause) but I found out from Leeds he hasn’t got the sell-on at all, so all that £800,000 is burning a hole in his pocket.

“I’ve only asked him (Power) for a few bob of that and he’s reluctant to give me it so far but I believe the agents have spoken.

“Swindon want him, but we haven’t done a deal yet.’’

Meanwhile Town have confirmed they will take on University College Dublin in the second friendly of their pre-season trip to Ireland later this month.

As revealed by the Adver yesterday, as part of a six-day tour, during which Luke Williams’ side will play Shelbourne on Tuesday, July 12, Town are also set to pit their wits against UCD on Saturday, July 16 (kick-off 2pm).
