FORMER Swindon Town striker Miles Storey says his career has made a step in the right direction after his move to Aberdeen.

The 22-year-old decided to call an end to a topsy-turvy spell at the County Ground, which saw him loaned out five times in the last three years, and move north of the border at the end of June.

With the prospect of playing in the Europa League, with Aberdeen’s campaign continuing this evening against FK Ventspils, as well as matches against the likes of Celtic and Rangers, Storey believes he has made a step up in quality.

Storey is now urging more young players like him who are struggling to get a regular place in League One to consider a move to Scotland.

"I always wanted to stay in Scotland," said Storey, who was on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle last season.

"The Scottish Premiership is a massive league, and if the opportunity was there for me to stay in Scotland, I always wanted to stay.

"No disrespect to the lower leagues in England but there's a lot more coverage up here and it means a lot more to the fans I think. There's obviously more TV games and that kind of thing.

"I've been on a lot of loan moves and I've been at Swindon since I was 16. But last year when I was at Inverness, I really enjoyed myself.

"I really enjoyed playing against teams like Aberdeen, teams like Celtic, and playing against good players who play international football and you won't get that in League Two and lower than that.

"If anyone was going to ask me personally, a young lad if they should come up here, I would say yes straight away. Come up here and enjoy yourself.

"At the end of the season I had a chat with the manager here, and it was an hour of talking about football, his views on the club, the way the club was going forward, how he wanted his teams to play, and within an hour I had no more questions, I knew I wanted to come here."
