SWINDON Town signed off their tour of Ireland with a comfortable 5-1 victory over University College Dublin yesterday.

Head coach Luke Williams made three changes to the side that started in the 1-0 victory over Shelbourne, with the goalscorer on Tuesday night, Jonathan Obika, replaced by Jordan Stewart.

Meanwhile, Will Henry replaced Lawrence Vigouroux in goal and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, who was a second-half sub on Tuesday, started in place of James Brophy at left full-back.

Town took little over 20 minutes to take the lead against the League of Ireland First Division side as Stewart got himself off the mark in a Swindon Town shirt when his effort from 20 yards found the top corner.

Bradley Barry thought he had netted his second goal of pre-season just shy of the half-hour mark, but his headed effort from Anton Rodgers’ cross was ruled out for offside.

After a lengthy delay, with UCD’s Tomas Boyle stretchered from the pitch injured, Town doubled their lead minutes before the break.

Yaser Kasim saw his corner met by Jamie Sendles-White, who turned the ball home to score his first goal for the club.

Swindon made two changes at the break with Stewart and Barry making way for Jermaine Hylton and James Brophy.

Hylton made an immediate impact as he saw an effort go wide after rounding Conor O’Donnell before he then played in John Goddard, who saw his shot strike the post.

Town extended their lead 10 minutes after the break when new signing Conor Thomas converted Ormonde-Ottewill’s low cross.

Williams rang more changes on the hour mark and substitutes Jordan Young and Jake Evans teamed up to score Town’s fourth two minutes later, with the latter netting with help of the post.

Swindon scored their fifth with 20 minutes to go when Ellis Iandolo and Young teamed up down the left-hand side and Brophy tapped home the cross.

However, Town were unable to keep their third clean sheet of pre-season as Ryan Swan converted from the penalty spot in the dying minutes, after skipper Nathan Thompson committed a foul in the box.

Meanwhile, Lewis Kinsella, the former Aston Villa defender who was a second-half substitute for Town in their win over Swindon Supermarine, is on trial at Luton Town and played the second half of their win over Bedford Town.
