SWINDON Town Football in the Community Trust kicked off their Gothia Cup campaign with three wins out of five against Swedish opposition today.
The competition is the biggest youth tournament in the world, with more than 1,600 teams from 80 different nations taking part in Sweden.
Swindon Town FITC boys U14s ran in a magnificent seven goals against IF Brommapojkarna. Henry Butterworth and Matthew Slevin got two each in the 7-1 success, with Tom Pugh, William Sumner and Zack Eckersall also on target.
Elsewhere, Noah Howell’s strike helped the U16s rescue a 1-1 draw with Hallbybrunns IF.
On the girls’ side, the U16s faced Glumslovs FF but went down to a 1-0 defeat.
However, the U15s romped to a 5-0 win over Ostansbo IS thanks to a hat-trick from Sophie Roberts and Gipsy Viveash’s brace, while goals from Aimee Prinzi, Isabella Cook and Florence Ashton helped the U14s see off IFK Goteborg 3-0.
