SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter has urged his troops to put Monday night’s mauling at Wolverhampton Wolves out of their minds as quickly as possible as they look to bounce back this evening.

The Robins’ hectic week of four meetings in five days continues tonight when they make the lengthy trip to Norfolk to take on King’s Lynn Stars.

Morale in the Swindon camp is sure to be low following the 62-30 drubbing at the hands of Elite League leaders Wolves but Rossiter says there is no point them feeling sorry for themselves.

Having travelled to the Midlands seeking a fifth straight win, the Robins chief felt his riders did not perform to the levels that they are capable of against Wolves.

However, last time Swindon travelled to King’s Lynn they recorded a 45-all draw and could have won the meeting was it not for their hosts claiming a 5-1 maximum in heat 15.

Now Rossiter has asked for a repeat performance and has urged them to put in a response at the Norfolk Arena this evening.

“There is no good dwelling on it, we just need to move on and try to put in a good performance at King’s Lynn on Wednesday,” said Rossiter.

“We just need to park it up and move on and get ready for King’s Lynn, which is a totally different track.

“We have proven in the past that we can go there and do well but they have strengthened up.

“I still think we are good enough to go there and win and it will be a totally different mindset for the riders.

“We know what we have got to aim for now after Monday’s defeat to Wolves and we have got to make sure when we come back to the track that we don’t make the same mistakes.

“We got a result up there last time and nearly won the meeting - we should have won the meeting but we slipped up on the last race.

“Of course Monday’s result against Wolves puts pressure on us for the rest of the week but we have just got to go out there and prove that we are up for the challenge and put it behind us.”

With plenty of points on offer this week in the race for the end-of-season play-offs, the Robins cannot afford to let Monday’s defeat hold them back in the next three meetings, which include a home clash against Belle Vue Aces on Thursday and concludes with a trip to Lakeside Hammers 24 hours later.

Australian rider Rohan Tungate admits the team were left stuck in the gates at Monmore Green but knows that they are capable of coming away from King’s Lynn with something to show for their efforts if the whole septet raise their game.

Tungate said: “It is probably our busiest week so far this season and it was not the best of starts.

“We need to work on our first places if we want to pick up any wins from the remaining three meetings this week.

“We have got a good chance at King’s Lynn I think.

“But we will need to improve and we’ll go there and see what happens.”

Swindon have drafted in Belle Vue rider Joe Jacobs to guest for the injured Stefan Nielsen at reserve, after Robert Branford failed to score a point on Monday night.

Meanwhile, King’s Lynn include former Robins riders Troy Batchelor and Lewis Rose plus also draft in ex-Swindon man Kyle Howarth, who scored an impressive 10 points at Monmore Green, as a guest for Simon Lambert at reserve.
