SWINDON Town head coach Luke Williams says that he won't be pressing any panic buttons as his side prepares to play host to Premier League side Swansea City this evening.

Town have failed to win either of their two pre-season friendlies since returning from a tour of Ireland more than a week ago.

The latest defeat came to non-league outfit Woking at the weekend as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in Surrey.

However, Town were leading Championship side Reading until Williams rang the changes midway through the second half, and the team looked much-changed last Saturday as Swindon gave minutes to a handful of triallists they are running their eye over.

While Williams admitted that both defeats were disappointing, the results were not the be-all and end-all, with the Town boss concentrating on refining his starting XI for his team's season opener against Coventry City on August 6.

“I don’t think I would say a setback,” he told BBC Wiltshire.

“We know that with our very strongest side on the pitch, we’re a competent League One team and everyone can see that if we start to remove players from the starting line-up, we get weaker.

“We’ve got a good grasp of how we’re going to try and play the game and what style we’re going to play, and most of the boys in the building know their jobs and what’s expected of them.”

Francesco Guidolin brings his Swansea side to Wiltshire this evening (7.45pm) and looks likely to travel with a similar squad to the one that dispatched Bristol Rovers 5-1 last Saturday, with the Swans players who played at Euro 2016 yet to return to action.

Meanwhile, it is still up in the air whether former Swansea target Yaser Kasim will miss the start of the season after being called up to represent Iraq in a friendly with Qatar two days after the League One season kicks off.

While Kasim's absence would be a dent in Williams’ plans for Coventry, he says he will accept any decision made by the player.

“As always, we will respect Yaser and if he’s required to play for his country and he’s happy to go, then we want him to go – if not, we’re delighted to have him with us,” he added.
