GILLINGHAM could be set to unleash star man Bradley Dack when Swindon Town visit Priestfield tonight.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who beat then-Town striker Nicky Ajose to the title of League One Player of the Year last term, jarred his knee during the Gills’ EFL Cup win over Southend United on August 9 and subsequently missed Saturday’s 2-1 triumph over Bury.

However, Dack, who found the net as the Kent outfit beat Swindon 3-1 at the County Ground last season, is pushing himself into contention to feature against Luke Williams’ side after a scan on his knee injury highlighted no major damage.

Gills manager Justin Edinburgh says that Dack, who has been the subject of multiple bids from Bristol City, is keen to play against Town and that the midfield star has a chance of returning to the fold.

“We had good news in the week about his scan,” Edinburgh told kentonline.co.uk.

“It is just a slight bit of overextension and bone bruising and Bradley being Bradley; he is trying to force himself into contention for Tuesday. We will monitor that.

“A lot of supporters would have come (on Saturday) and knowing Bradley wasn’t playing, they might be thinking ‘where are we going to win, where are we going to get goals from?’.

“That, for me, is a signal of how far we have come from last season.”

Max Ehmer is another Gills man that could be back on the pitch when Swindon rock up at Priestfield.

The defender, 24, also missed his side’s win over Bury on Saturday after he was knocked out in a collision during last week’s clash with Southend, with the German taken to hospital with concussion.

However, Ehmer is eligible to play against Town and Edinburgh added: “If everything continues going to plan, then he will be available for Tuesday.”
