FORMER Swindon Town defender Jordan Turnbull has joined League One rivals Coventry City this evening.

The 21-year-old defender has been linked with a move back to the County Ground this summer on social media but has instead signed a three-year deal with the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee from Southampton.

Turnbull started his career within the youth system at Swindon Town, before later joining Southampton’s Academy.

The centre-back spent consecutive campaigns on season-long loans at Town, appearing 51 times during 2014/15 and a further 46 times during 2015/16.

Turnbull has also featured for England’s international youth team setup, having represented the young Lions at Under-19 and Under-20 level.

The defender is set to take the number four shirt at the Ricoh and will be eligible to feature for the club from Saturday onwards, as Coventry take on Bradford City.

“I’m pleased to get the signing of Jordan over the line, as we continue to strengthen the squad for this season,” said Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray.

“Jordan played twice against us last season and impressed me both times with his accomplished performance; both in possession of the ball and defensively.

“He will strengthen our options at the back and I am looking forward to working with him over the course of the season and beyond.”
