HOW great it was to see Trust STFC-sponsored Jordan Stewart score his first goal in Swindon colours at Loftus Road last week.

Jordan has not had the easiest start to life in Wiltshire but his excellent strike to bring us level against QPR, forcing extra-time and ultimately an unsuccessful penalty shootout, was just rewards for perseverance and hard work.

The image of him wheeling away in celebration in front of 800 or so travelling fans, with a Cheshire Cat grin pinned from ear to ear, is the stand-out picture of the season so far.

We’re delighted for our very own ‘Irish Messi’ and hope that’s the first of many celebration shots in Town colours for years to come.

Jordan has taken to the Trust cause in the past few months and we’re delighted that he’s agreed to help out with kids training sessions and promoting our club locally.

Two years ago, we were fortunate to have the backing of a genuinely kind-hearted and community-orientated member of the Swindon squad – a certain Mr Harry Toffolo – and it’s wonderful when players offer their free time to inspire the next generation.

As an aside, it was lovely to hear that Harry has become a father for the first time after his partner, Annie, gave birth to a healthy baby boy last week.

Welcome to the world, little Luca Stefano. If you’ve got half the enthusiasm for life as your dad, you’ll go far.

Back in Swindon, the Pro Red initiative is gathering pace. The programme, promoted by the club in association with the Trust, the North Wilts Youth League and Football in the Community, offers parents of local schoolchildren and young footballers reduced entry prices at the County Ground.

The idea is to get more families attending Town matches and ensuring Swindon have a fanbase for years and years to come.

Furthermore, clubs and schools will benefit from cashback based on the tickets sold. To find out more and to register, visit www.pro-red.co.uk Meanwhile, we’re continuing to call out for supporter nominations for Trust Heroes.

We want to recognise the men and women who do great things for Swindon Town but often go unheralded – from the groundstaff to programme sellers, to those hardy souls at SAS Travel.

If you’ve got a nomination or a story to tell, get in touch by emailing info@truststfc.com After the opening-day victory over Coventry, let’s hope winning ways return when Port Vale come to town. See you at the County Ground on Saturday.
