SWINDON Town have signed striker Nathan Delfouneso until the end of the season.

Town have been chasing the former Aston Villa front man for the past week as they look to solve their injury crisis in attack.

Following Tuesday night’s draw away at Gillingham in League One, Town head coach Luke Williams revealed that the club had offered a contract to the 25-year-old and the club have today confirmed that a deal has now been completed, subject to EFL and FA approval.

Former England U21 international Delfouneso arrives on a free transfer following his release from Championship side Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season and is likely to go straight into the matchday squad for Saturday’s home game against Port Vale.

Delfouneso came through the ranks at Villa Park before leaving the club in 2014. His most recent action came on a brief loan stint with League One side Bury from Rovers towards the end of last season.

Town’s current shortage of attacking options saw them play without a recognised striker for their midweek trip to Gills.

Luke Norris suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield while Jonathan Obika has missed the last three matches with a groin problem.
