ADVER Sport looks at Swindon Town's next League One opponents Bristol Rovers.

THE CHALKBOARD

DARRELL Clarke is a manager who likes to keep his cards close to his chest and keeps opposing teams, the media and even his own players guessing before each match.

They are an attacking team which explains why they have scored in every game they have played so far this season, but on the other side of the coin, they are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league so far.

Defence is an area they have been working on in training and as a result they have been more conservative in recent games resulting in score draws with Bradford City, Walsall and Rochdale.

Bristol are still finding their feet at this level and after a few solid performances, spirits will be buoyant heading into tonight’s game and a clean sheet high on their priority.

LIKELY LINE-UP

Swindon Advertiser:

MAN IN FORM: Matty Taylor TWENTY-EIGHT goals last season for Bristol Rovers not only helped his side gain promotion to League One but also put him firmly in the shop window come the summer.

However, the 26-year-old was not lured away by the promise of more money elsewhere and the chance to play in the Championship, instead he opted to sign a new contract at the Memorial Stadium in a deal that was expected to see him made the highest paid player at the club.

He has carried on his form from last season and after scoring twice in Rovers’ opening two games, has found the back of the net four times in his last four outings for the club, including a brace at Rochdale in the 2-2 draw.

He will look to keep that form going and Swindon’s defence could have their hands full.

TREATMENT ROOM

VETERAN midfielder Liam Lawrence is the only long-term injury concern for Darrell Clarke’s side heading into tonight’s game.

A disappointing night for Clarke in the EFL Trophy against Reading U23s was compounded by an injury to the 34-year-old on what was his first outing of the season.

Lawrence had suffered a calf injury in pre-season but it is the calf in the other leg now that will probably see him side-lined for the best part of another month.

Thirty-three-year-old midfielder Lee Mansell has also been missing since the start of the season.

Despite Rovers coming through their game at the weekend with Bradford City unscathed, it is likely that Clarke will make changes ahead of tonight’s tie, having only named an unchanged side once so far this term.
