BRANDON Ormonde-Ottewill believes Swindon Town’s fortunes will continue to improve once they get their best XI back on the pitch.

Town are missing key men in every department at the moment, with the absence of star midfielder Michael Doughty particularly hard felt as he has not played since September 10.

Striker Jonathan Obika has been restricted to appearing in just half of Swindon’s 14 League One fixtures, while central defenders Lloyd Jones and Jamie Sendles-White are also on the sidelines, the latter for the duration of the season.

Although Town’s form has taken a turn for the better this week following a draw at AFC Wimbledon and thumping home win over Rochdale, head coach Luke Williams still has his hands tied when it comes to selection.

Ormonde-Ottewill is the latest player to be confined to the treatment room, with the left wing-back missing the last two games due to a hip problem.

The 20-year-old concedes that Town have been hit hard by injuries this term but believes the team can expect to see further improvement on the field once everyone is fit and well again.

“It’s is busy in the treatment room. A lot of the boys have got an injury but it is just one of those things that happens in the season,” Ormonde-Ottewill told BBC Wiltshire.

“You’ve just got to try your best, get in the gym and work hard and get back to full fitness.

“These are all top players that we need to have back in the side, so as soon as we get them back, it will be better for everyone.”

Ormonde-Ottewill is likely to miss a third straight game when Town welcome Walsall to the County Ground on Saturday and the defender is currently unable to put a timescale on his return.

Although he is still in the early stages of his recovery process, the Arsenal youth product is hungry to get back in action as soon as possible.

“It’s just a little niggle at the moment. I can’t put a time on it but I have been in the gym and am just working my hardest to get back fit now,” added Ormonde-Ottewill.

“I am not running at the moment. I am in the gym doing strength work but who knows; by the end of the week, I could be running.”
