SWINDON Town have this morning announced the return of midfielder Ben Gladwin on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old, who left Swindon for Championship side Queens Park Rangers in May 2015 in a deal which included fellow Town midfielder Massimo Luongo, is back at the County Ground for a second loan spell.

Gladwin is the first signing to be made by Swindon this transfer window, with Michael Doughty and Darnell Furlong having already headed in the opposite direction after their loan stints in Wiltshire were cut short at the request of Rangers manager Ian Holloway.

Gladwin, who was plucked from non-league side Marlow in 2013, made 47 appearances for Town during his first spell, scoring 11 times – including a memorable brace coming in the 5-5 draw at home to Sheffield United which earned Swindon a play-off final spot in the 2014/15 campaign.

However, after Swindon fell to Preston North End at Wembley, Gladwin, along with Luongo, was one of the first to depart the County Ground, joining QPR for a fee reported to be around £1.5million.

Since moving to west London, Gladwin has made just 14 appearances, eight of those coming from the bench and last October, he was loaned back to Swindon to help during an injury crisis.

Gladwin returned to QPR last January at the request of then manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink before earning a loan move to fellow Championship side Bristol City, where he made just one league start before having his deal terminated following a knee injury.

The midfielder is expected to join up with his new team-mates in training today and will available for selection when Town head to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
