STRIKER Nathan Delfouneso made a goalscoring start to life back at Blackpool hours after completing a move to the League Two side from Swindon Town.

Delfouneso stepped off the Tangerines’ bench to set up Kelvin Mellor’s first equaliser, then net an injury-time leveller in the 2-2 home draw with Yeovil at Bloomfield Road, hours after completing his switch from the County Ground.

The 25-year-old had only joined Town last summer on a free transfer having been released by Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Delfouneso had made 24 appearances for the County Ground club this season, scoring three goals, but only one of those came in the league during a 3-0 win at home to Rochdale.

The Advertiser understands that the forward was released by Town in order to join the Bloomfield Road side on a deal that lasts until the end of the season.

“You always have to try to make an impact when you come off the bench,” Delfouneso told the Blackpool club website. “Thankfully I did well when I came on.

“I’ll take it all day long, you need to be in the right areas and thankfully I managed to get my toe on it to put it in the back of the net.

“I’m happy to contribute to us getting a point, even though we would have loved to get all three. We’ll take a point, try to up ourselves and go from here.

Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer said: “I worked with him at Blackburn and had a good working relationship with him, and I was delighted that we were able to get him in.

“You saw the impact - he’s made one and he’s scored one. Don’t try and take that one off him because he’s claiming that.’’
