THE jury is still out on whether Swindon Town strike duo Luke Norris and Jonathan Obika will be fit to start tomorrow night against Northampton Town.

Norris was withdrawn from the starting line-up at the eleventh hour at Bury, having failed a late fitness test on a groin injury sustained in training the day before.

He was replace in the starting XI by Jermaine Hylton and was in the process of undergoing further tests on the injury ahead of tomorrow’s trip.

Town head coach Luke Williams said: “Luke is downstairs being assessed now. Hopefully we will know in the next half an hour.

“He might have to go to the training pitch to be more thoroughly tested but we should find out this morning.

“He just felt something in his groin in training. We thought maybe it was nothing and he travelled, had a fitness test before the game but there was too much pain in there to play through.”

Obika looks more likely to be one of the 11 named on the teamsheet at Sixfields having come through half an hour at Gigg Lane on Saturday unscathed.

However, Williams wants to be sure of Obika’s fitness, having not started since the 1-1 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town at the beginning of January, given his importance to the side in the relegation dogfight they now find themselves in.

“I think there is a good chance that he will start,” added Williams.

“I need to be 100 per cent sure that I’m not taking a risk with him because to lose him now would be a total disaster.

“I need to be 100 per cent sure and then he has got a real chance of being in the starting line-up.

“His first three or four touches (on Saturday) were awful, but that’s to be expected. You need to get that out of your system.

“I am pleased he got the time on the pitch to get through that and then start to show what we’ve been missing.

“He will be ready sooner rather than later to start."
