Adver Sport's Matt Edwards hands out his player ratings from Swindon Town's 2-1 defeat at Northampton Town.

Lawrence Vigouroux: 8*

Although Marc Richards’ penalty was at a good height, Vigouorux made a fantastic reaction save to deny him from 12 yards and commanded his box all game.

James Brophy: 7

The only bright spark in an attacking sense, but his end product in the final third let him down more often than not until a great run led to Town’s goal.

Lloyd Jones: 5

Was having a solid game at the back until he tried his best to stop Neal Eardley’s cross coming in and inadvertently turned into his own net.

Nathan Thompson: 6

Put in a solid shift in the heart of the three-man defence and was pushed higher up into the holding midfield role when Dion Conroy departed.

Raphael Branco: 6

His header in the second half from a corner was Town’s best effort on goal and he did well in the physical battle against Marc Richards at the back.

Fankaty Dabo: 3

A 45 minutes to forget for the Chelsea loanee. Can have few complaints about the penalty he conceded with a sloppy challenge on Keshi Anderson.

Dion Conroy: 4

Played out of position in a holding midfield role and it was the performance of a player who hadn’t played there before, gifting too much space between the defence and midfield.

Charlie Colkett: 4

Part of a midfield that looked very disjointed and failed to create what we know he can going forward.

Ben Gladwin: 4

Another performance where he appeared off the pace, with a lot of his passing wayward, and did not seem to be on the same page as Colkett.

Jonathan Obika: 4

Had the touch of a player who had not had a game in a month and he struggled to link the play up between the midfield and attack.

Nicky Ajose: 5

Was absent for most of the game, mainly because the ball barely entered the final third for Town but also because he failed to force the issue.

SUBS

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill (on for Dabo 45’): 5

Was a much-needed change at the break and while he wasn’t prone to the same mistakes as his predecessor, he hardly made his stamp on the game either.

Luke Norris (on for Obika 65’): 7

Recovered from his groin injury to make the bench and took his chance well when he headed home James Brophy’s cross.

John Goddard (on for Conroy 70’): 6

Got involved almost immediately after coming on but failed to improve Town’s impotent attacking display.
