SWINDON Town’s relegation rivals Bury yesterday appointed Lee Clark as their new manager.

The Shakers, who beat Town 1-0 last weekend and are currently two points ahead of Luke Williams’ side in 21st position, agreed a compensation package with Scottish Premiership outfit Kilmarnock to install the 44-year-old as their new boss.

Former Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City and Blackpool chief Clark, who made 184 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United and Fulham, had been in charge of Killie for an exact calendar year.

He replaces Chris Brass, who himself had only been in the Gigg Lane for a month, having been made head coach until the end of the season on December 15.

Clark told Kilmarnock’s official website: “I still have huge ambition to one day manage at the highest level in England, which is obviously the Premier League.

“I feel that the fresh challenge of managing a club in England’s League One could provide me with the platform to build towards this goal.”

n AFTER signing former Premier League hotshot Yakubu, struggling Coventry City are now in talks to sign ex-England international Kieran Richardson.

The 32-year-old, who won the Premier League with Manchester United in the 2006-07 season, has been a free agent since the expiration of a short-term deal with Cardiff City in December.

Coventry have confirmed that they are speaking to Richardson, who also featured for West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland, Fulham and Aston Villa, with a view to signing the winger until the end of the season.

SHANE Ferguson has signed a new contract with Millwall.

The 25-year-old, who has earned 22 caps for Northern Ireland, has penned a new deal keeping him at the Den until the summer of 2019.

Ferguson, who joined the Lions for an undisclosed fee from Newcastle United in January 2016, has scored three times in 39 appearances so far this season.

CHARLTON Athletic have loaned out 20-year-old striker and Northern Ireland U21 international Mikhail Kennedy to League of Ireland outfit Derry City until June.

OXFORD United goalie Simon Eastwood has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the Kassam Stadium until 2019.
