LUKE Norris believes that how ably he and his Town teammates rise to the occasion in the relegation dogfight they find themselves embroiled in will be career-defining.

The striker came off the bench and headed home an equalising goal against his former club on Tuesday night but his efforts proved in vain as Swindon slipped to a 2-1 loss at Northampton Town.

Now, with a crucial showdown with Oldham Athletic on the agenda this afternoon, Norris says the time for action is now as the end of the season on April 30 draws ever closer.

“We’ve still got a big chance of turning the season around and starting with Saturday, I think we will,” said the 23-year-old.

“I think we all know that, as the season gets on, it’s a massive 10 weeks for us.

“This 10 weeks can change people's careers, really, so it’s going to be a great time or a bad time for some people, but I think we all need to pull together.

“We’ve got enough quality to get out of it.

“Saturday is a must-win game. We all need to pull together as players. It’s down to us.

“It’s going to take every single one of us to get out of the situation because as the weeks go on, it’s going to get harder and harder.

“But we still believe and starting on Saturday is hopefully the run that will get us out of it.

“Every game now is a must-win game. Now, it’s got too late to think ‘next week, next week’ – every single game now is must-win.

“We’ve got 14 games left and we’ve got to win seven, at least, because 50 points is safety, so that’s where we’re at and that’s what we’ve got to do.”

Northampton’s winning goal in midweek came just moments after Norris’ equaliser and the striker could be seen booting the frame of the goal in a rage of frustration after John-Joe O’Toole lost his marker to head into the Swindon goal.

The Town striker makes no apologies for his reaction.

“It’s stuff we need to get right and you could see the frustration because it’s something we work on and it’s so easy to deal with it,” he said.

“You’ve got to mark people in the box. You’re given a player. That’s your job – do it.

“People see the frustration but everyone felt the same.

“Every point is going to be vital, so – in that position again – we need to hold on and get the point away from home.”

Norris also declared himself fit for this afternoon’s game with Oldham, having missed Town’s trip to Bury on February 11 with a groin problem.
