ADVER Sport takes a look at Swindon Town's next League One opponents Coventry City
THE CHALKBOARD
RUSSELL Slade was able to record his first win as Coventry City boss at the weekend as they recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Gillingham.
Despite only being in the role for 10 games, the boo boys were already circling the former Charlton Athletic and Cardiff City manager, despite him guiding them to a place in the final of the Checkatrade Trophy.
Slade tried to make his stamp on the club in the January window, bringing in seven players in a bid to lift the Sky Blues off the foot of the table.
While his predecessor Tony Mowbray was a philosopher at the same school of Swindon Town chairman Lee Power, getting the ball on the floor to play, Slade has returned to a more solid 4-4-2 formation and is not afraid to go long on a Ricoh pitch that has suffered with rugby also being played.
LIKELY LINE-UP
MAN IN FORM: Kwame Thomas
SUMMER signing Kwame Thomas is finally living up to his billing in a Coventry City shirt, having netted twice in the last three games.
The 21-year-old joined the Sky Blues last July on a free transfer, having been released by Championship side Derby County.
After penning a two-year deal at the Ricoh, Thomas, who has represented England at U16, U18 and U20 levels, has endured a frustrating start to his life in the Midlands.
He was forced off with an abdominal strain just five minutes into his second appearance, against Shrewsbury back in August, and has spent the last six months recovering.
The former Derby U21 player of year, hit the ground running on his return and his goals have been a welcome addition to a Coventry attack, who hold the second worst goals scored record in the league.
TREATMENT ROOM
THE injury list appears to be dwindling at Coventry, with key players back for this weekend’s crunch match.
Defensive stalwart Jordan Willis is back in contention, having served a suspension for his straight red card against Northampton Town at the end of January.
The suspension turned into a four-game ban, as Willis was forced to miss their Checkatrade Trophy game, a bizarre result of the tournament’s rules.
He was set to return last weekend against Gillingham, but a hamstring strain sidelined him for an extra game.
Striker Stuart Beavon is also expected to be fit, having not featured since Coventry’s Checkatrade Trophy win over Wycombe Wanderers at the start of the month with a calf strain.
Former Swindon Supermarine defender Chris Stokes (above) remains on the injury table after an operation on his knee earlier this season and loan signing from Watford Michael Folivi has a calf strain.
