WILL HENRY – 4

Could do nothing about the first two goals but a howler for the third cut short his side’s comeback

NATHAN THOMPSON – 6

Shunted out from centre-back to right back but did not let the change affect his performance and was strong in defence, while also helping out in attack

DION CONROY – 7

Was a little unsteady to start with but grew into the game and did a decent enough job of keeping Billy Sharp quiet

RAPHAEL BRANCO – 5

Beaten too easily for United’s second goal and did not look as comfortable without Thompson alongside him in the middle

FANKATY DABO – 4

Bags on energy and got forward well but a horror moment hurt Town’s solid start and allowed United to break the deadlock

ROHAN INCE – 7

Shows so much discipline to stick to his task of anchoring the midfield and got in some really important challenges to break up play BEN GLADWIN – 7 Did not feature heavily in the first half but improved after the break, highlighted but his superb long-range goal. Subbed.

CHARLIE COLKETT – 8

A screamer of a strike helped kick Town into life in the second half and showed his usual lovely array of passes

JOHN GODDARD – 7

Still looks a bit lightweight but showed some superb touches and has the ability to glide past people with ease

JONATHAN OBIKA – 6

Quiet in the first half but was more involved after the break, although did not really have a decent chance at goal all night

NICKY AJOSE – 6

Made some good runs that went wanting because of overhit passes from team-mates, although his poacher’s instinct cost his side a goal Substitutes:

LUKE NORRIS – 5

(For Gladwin, 84) No time to make an impact on the game

Subs not used: Conor Thomas, Anton Rodgers, Ellis Iandolo, Jesse Starkey, Scott Twine, Jordan Simpson.
