FLEETWOOD Town boss Uwe Rosler has been named EFL League One boss of the season.

The Cod Army, who are chasing promotion to the Championship, also had right-back Conor McLaughlin named in the team of the campaign.

Joining McLaughlin in the League One XI, which lined-up in a 4-3-3 formation, were Bolton centre-halves David Wheater and Mark Beevers with Bradford’s James Meredith at left-back.

Walsall’s Erhun Oztumer, Scunthorpe hot-shot Josh Morris and Sheffield United’s John Fleck were the chosen midfield three, while Sheffield United’s 26-goal forward Billy Sharp joins Millwall’s Lee Gregory and Bury’s James Vaughan in attack.

  • PETERBOROUGH United have parted company with assistant manager Lee Glover.

The 46-year-old ex-Nottingham Forest and Rotherham forward joined manager Grant McCann’s staff last June, but has left after just nine months.

Peterborough have won just four games in 2017 and are currently on a five-match winless run following their 1-1 draw with struggling Oldham on Saturday.

Posh are 12th in League One, eight points outside the play-off places with seven games remaining.

Glover said: “I had a chat with (director of football) Barry Fry and he decided it was probably best to terminate my contract. That was the decision taken at board level.

“Results have been poor and I think someone has carried the can for that.”

  • OLDHAM Athletic have stated that the club are completely up to date with payments to HM Revenue and Customs and are expecting a notice of a winding-up petition to be retracted.

The London Gazette stated that the club were due in the High Court on Monday, May 8, to answer the petition over a bill thought to be around the £20,000 mark.

However, the club have said in a statement that the liability has already been settled.

“We are expecting a formal retraction from HMRC in the next edition of the London Gazette,” the club’s statement read.

“There is no secret that the approaching summer months for football clubs can cause cash flow issues as there is virtually no income in May, June and July, while the running costs of the club are as much as £750,000.

“However, we would like to make it 100 per cent clear that under no circumstances were the season tickets put on sale early to help pay any outstanding monies to HMRC.”

  • NORTHAMPTON Town striker Alex Revell is to see a specialist later this week regarding the calf muscle injury that has kept him out of action since January.

The 33-year-old initially suffered the injury in a 5-3 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons on January 21, lasting just 23 minutes of Justin Edinburgh’s first game in charge of the club.

He was originally scheduled to return to playing action by the end of February but the former Town man suffered a setback in training.
