Adver sport’s Matt Edwards gives his player ratings from Swindon Town’s 1-0 defeat away to Walsall.

Lawrence Vigouroux: 6

Had to deal with a lot of shots from outside the box but was relatively untroubled until the death, where he will be disappointed with the goal conceded.

Fankaty Dabo: 6

Kept Walsall quiet down the right flank and tried to provide an attacking outlet when possible.

Dion Conroy: 7*

Made an important goal-line block with less than a minute gone and built from that in another impressive display at the back.

Raphael Branco: 7

Dealt with the task of man-marking Amadou Bakayoko for most of the game, was pushed forward when Walsall scored.

Bradley Barry: 6

Was targeted by Walsall in the first half, with a lot of play coming down his side but in the second half ,had more freedom to roam forward, something that cost Town with the goal.

Charlie Colkett: 6

Another display where he showed his talent on the ball and passing range but was unable to unpick Walsall’s defence.

Rohan Ince: 7

A full-blooded display from the Brighton loanee as he continuously broke play up in midfield and provided a base to move forward.

Conor Thomas: 5

A game where he failed to have too much of an impact and was replaced for a more attacking option in the second half.

Ben Gladwin: 7

Given a role at the peak of the diamond which allowed him to drive at Walsall’s box and was pivotal to Town’s forward play.

Nicky Ajose: 6

Pushed wide in the first half but was wasted not being in the box, a move that Luke Williams made in the second half but no clear-cut chance presented itself.

Jon Obika: 6

Fared better than his strike partner in the wide role in the first half but also lacked the opportunities to give Town the goal they were crying out for.

SUBSTITUTES:

John Goddard (on for Thomas 65’): 6

Brought on to provide a more attacking outlet and worked hard in and around the edge of the box but also failed to produce the telling chance.

James Brophy (on for Dabo 77’): 7

Added much-needed pace down the flank for Town late on to worry Walsall.

Unused subs: Henry, Ormonde-Ottewill, Rodgers, Starkey, Norris
