FORMER Swindon Town midfielder Louis Thompson has suffered a second serious injury setback.
The 22 year old was on the comeback trail from a serious Achilles injury, but now faces another six months off at least following surgery after suffering a similar problem during his rehabilitation.
Canaries Sporting Director Stuart Webber said: "Everyone at Norwich City is bitterly disappointed for Louis following this news.
"It is expected Louis will be unavailable for a substantial period, if not the entirety, of this season. However, we will be working with him to ensure he is able to return to fitness at the earliest opportunity."
Former Town youth player Thompson was hoping to make an impact under Norwich's new head coach Daniel Farke this season.
The Welsh U21 international, who has a Carrow Road contract until 2019, starred in league and cup battles against Leeds United last season before rupturing his Achilles in training in January 2017 but has been limited to just six first team appearances for Norwich.
He joined Norwich from Town in 2014, but returned to the County Ground for three subsequent loan spells and made more than 80 Swindon appearances in total, scoring seven goals.
