SWINDON Town have sent teenager Jake Evans on loan to Southern League Premier division side Farnborough.

The 19-year-old, who spent the end of last campaign on loan at League of Ireland outfit Waterford, along with Tom Smith, has joined Farnborough on a one-month deal, which will take him to up to Saturday, September 16.

Evans made his debut for the Yellows yesterday as a second-half substitute in their 3-1 defeat to Redditch United.

The midfielder, who has also been played at full-back, was not given a squad number at the start of this month, with manager David Flitcroft stating at the time that he was keen to get him out on loan to help his development.

“I can’t carry anyone. Tom (Ouldridge) and Jake (Evans) have done okay in pre-season but, right at this minute, they don’t take me where I want to go and where there are opportunities to get them out on loan to develop them even further, then that’s the opportunity,” said Flitcroft prior to the start of the season.

“All the players I take forward and have got a squad number have got to feel they have got a fair and equal chance of playing and, with those three players, they wouldn’t have had that chance.”
