JESSE Starkey has left Swindon Town after the club agreed to mutually terminate his contract.
Starkey only joined Town on transfer deadline day in January but made just one first-team appearance for the club in the 3-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic on the final day of the 2016-17 season.
The midfielder had been under contract at the County Ground until the end of the current season after signing from Brighton and Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.
Earlier this summer, Town manager David Flitcroft said the 22-year-old was free to look for a new club, with the club today terminating his contract to allow him to find first-team football elsewhere.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “We thank Jesse for his efforts during his time with us and we wish him the very best for the future.”
