REUBEN Reid scored twice as Exeter moved three points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two with a comfortable 3-1 win at Forest Green.

Pierce Sweeney's close-range finish gave the Grecians an early lead and Reid doubled their advantage in the 18th minute, tapping in after a strong run and shot from Lee Holmes.

Reid scored his sixth goal of the season eight minutes into the second half with a composed finish into the corner, with Shamir Mullings pulling one back for the home side with 15 minutes remaining.

Sean McConville bagged a brace as Accrington moved up to second with a 3-0 win over Carlisle.

McConville had already clipped the crossbar for Stanley when they opened the scoring after 17 minutes, Billy Kee keeping his cool when put through one-on-one.

McConville added a second before the break with a stunning free-kick and a third - a superb solo effort - after 57 minutes to seal the win.

Notts County are third following a routine 2-0 win at home to Morecambe.

Dan Jones' superb curling free-kick put the Magpies in front after 27 minutes and Jonathan Forte secured the points with a second five minutes from time.

Stevenage, who had started the day second, were beaten 2-1 at home by Lincoln.

Matt Godden drilled the ball into the bottom corner to give Stevenage the lead, and Lincoln's afternoon looked to have taken another turn for the worse when Matt Green was sent off for his second booking early in the second half.

The Imps had other ideas, though, as Sean Raggett headed home a Billy Knott corner to level and Ollie Palmer made it 2-1 from the penalty spot 15 minutes from time.

It was 10-a-side when Luke Wilkinson saw red for a coming together with Alex Woodyard with eight minutes left and Lincoln held on.

Chris Porter scored twice as Crewe cruised to a 5-1 win against struggling Chesterfield.

He took advantage of a defensive mix-up to steer home an early opener and the striker's neat side-foot finish made it two at the start of the second half.

Porter was denied a hat-trick by an offside flag but it was 3-0 when Perry Ng fired home.

George Cooper grabbed a neatly-taken fourth, with an own goal from Eddie Nolan mere consolation for the Spireites as Callum Ainley sealed victory with a late fifth.

Earlier in the day, pre-season promotion favourites Mansfield thumped Grimsby 4-1.

Lee Angol and Krystian Pearce both scored twice, with the former's goals both coming from the penalty spot.

Elsewhere, Sammi Szmodics scored one and set up another as Colchester eased to a 3-1 win against Crawley while Jodi Jones' superb curling effort was enough for Coventry to see off Port Vale, despite Rod McDonald's late dismissal.

Mauro Vilhete's brace helped Barnet to a 3-1 win against Cambridge.

The games between Newport and Wycombe and Yeovil and Cheltenham ended goalless.
