LEADERS Exeter cruised to a sixth straight Sky Bet League Two victory as Crewe were brushed aside 3-0 at St James Park.

The Grecians opened the scoring in the seventh minute when a corner was only half-cleared and Jordan Tillson turned in the loose ball.

It was 2-0 after 38 minutes when Jake Taylor hammered home after Liam McAlinden's attempt had deflected into his path and Jayden Stockley headed in a Taylor cross to wrap up the points in the 76th minute.

Notts County stay second as Jorge Grant's close-range finish from Jonathan Forte's low cross-shot proved enough to see off Crawley, while Accrington remain third following a 2-1 win at 10-man Chesterfield.

The Spireites had Bradley Barry sent off for a second bookable offence in the 63rd minute and Accrington made them pay when Billy Kee fired them in front.

Kristian Dennis levelled from the penalty spot after 77 minutes but parity lasted just five minutes as Stanley striker Mallik Wilks fired into the bottom corner.

The result proved to be Gary Caldwell's last at the helm, the manager sacked after watching the Spireites slump to their fifth league loss of the season.

Caldwell was not the only League Two manager to find himself newly unemployed on Saturday evening, Port Vale parting company with Michael Brown after a 1-1 home draw against Forest Green in the battle of the bottom two.

The Valiants scored their first goal in six league matches after 21 minutes when Dan Turner coolly converted from inside the area, but Rovers substitute Omar Bugiel could not miss with a close-range header to equalise in the 68th minute.

Brown, 40, who was handed the reins on a full-time basis in May, leaves on the back of a seven-game winless league run left them bottom of the table.

James Collins scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time to snatch Luton an unlikely 2-1 win at Wycombe.

The Chairboys had looked set for victory following Adebayo Akinfenwa's first-half header, only for Scott Cuthbert to level in the last minute and Collins to head in a scrappy winner.

Lincoln fell one day short of completing a year unbeaten in all competitions at Sincil Bank as Danny Rose came off the bench to head Mansfield to a 1-0 victory in the early kick-off.

Shaun Miller rescued a point for Carlisle as they drew 1-1 at home to Barnet, while Kevin Dawson scored twice as Cheltenham eased to a 3-1 win against 10-man Colchester.

Kevin Ellison scored both goals for Morecambe as they were 2-1 winners against Newport.

Scott Vernon's header secured Grimsby a 2-1 success against Yeovil, while Uche Ikpeazu nodded in the winning goal for Cambridge as they claimed a 2-1 victory at home to Coventry.
