Likely line-up

Swindon Advertiser:

One to watch - Craig Mackail-Smith

WITH manager Gareth Ainsworth likely to give a rest to star striker Adebayo Akinfenwa in tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy clash at Swindon Town, Wycombe Wanderers will need someone else to come forward and spearhead their attack.

Mackail-Smith has been a regular partner for Akinfenwa up front this season, starting 12 of Wycombe’s 16 league matches.

Although is goals tally is somewhat overshadowed - Mackail-Smith has two to Akinfenwa’s nine - he is still a useful asset within Ainsworth’s side.

After a run of six games without a goal, the 33-year-old may well want to enjoy some time in the limelight himself as Wanderers look to avenge their league defeat at the Energy Check County Ground earlier this month.

Key battle - Matt Taylor v Dayle Southwell

SWINDON Town manager David Flitcroft may well have preferred to give Matt Taylor a break against Wycombe Wanderers tonight but with the only other left-back in his squad - Chris Hussey - still injured, the 35-year-old could well be called on once more.

Taylor has used all his experience to slot nicely into the Town defence in Hussey’s absence and will want that pattern to continue when faced up against Wycombe’s forward line - particularly someone like Dayle Southwell.
