SWINDON Town manager David Flitcroft lauded the application of his strikers after claiming a third League Two win on the bounce at the weekend.

Norris continued his reliable return in front of goal with the decisive strike in Saturday’s 1-0 success at home to Forest Green Rovers, taking his tally to 12 in 24 games in all competitions this term.

Although strike partner Kaiyne Woolery cannot boast the same ratio after a return of four goals in 28 matches, he was once again a constant thorn in the side of the opposition defence.

Flitcroft was full of praise for the ongoing improvement to Woolery’s physical attributes as well as Norris’ ability to be a cool head when it matters most, with his winning goal coming amidst a goalmouth scramble in front of the Forest Green net.

“It was a strange one, I am not too sure how Paul Mullin didn’t finish it, but Luke has done it all season,” said Flitcroft.

“Luke can score all sorts of goals and winning goals are the best goals for strikers to score, they really are, and Luke has got us another one.

“Kaiyne is improving on his strength. We have got benchmarks and we profiled Kaiyne when he came in and he was under where I wanted him to be.

“It was always about developing Kaiyne and realise his potential. He has not played many league games. It is going to take time, it is going to take patience.

“We have got players in the team like Ellis Iandolo, Matt Preston and Keshi Anderson, as well as Kaiyne, that we really want to try to drive hard to develop and make better and keep improving and I think they are doing.”

Another player to catch the eye of Flitcroft was new signing Ollie Banks, who was named of match by the sponsors after an impressive debut at the Energy Check County Ground.

The midfielder was thrust straight into the Town starting line-up just a day after sealing a loan move from League One side Oldham Athletic until the end of the season.

“Ollie came in and looked an absolute top, top player. He covered every blade of grass but did it with an elegance and a quality,” said Flitcroft.

“He was very influential in all parts of the pitch and I was delighted with his debut.”
