CHRIS Hussey's spell at Swindon Town has come to an early end, with the defender slapped with a five-match ban by the Football Association.

Swindon Town boss Phil Brown confirmed today that Hussey, who was on a season-long loan from Championship side Sheffield United, had headed back to Yorkshire following the sanction, which included a £4,000 fine, over an incident with a supporter after the final whistle of Town's 2-1 defeat at Newport County last month.

Hussey, 29, became embroiled in an apparent confrontation with a spectator in the section of the ground occupied by Town fans behind the goal at the end of the defeat at Rodney Parade, prompting Brown to pledge an immediate investigation into the incident afterwards.

The left-back now appears to have been hit with the hefty punishment, the Football Association confirming the action this afternoon, ending his spell at the County Ground one match earlier than planned.

“Chris Hussey is suspended for five games so is not available to us at the weekend,'' said Brown at his pre-match press call ahead of Satrday's final League Two game of the season at home to champions Accrington Stanley.

“Chris has gone back to his parent club, Ollie Banks has gone back to his parent club (Oldham) and Kellan Gordon has gone back to his parent club (Derby). That leaves Timi Elsnik and Rollin Menayese available to us.

“It is not a clear out of loan players or anything like that.

"I just spoke with Ollie at length and said he wasn’t needed at the weekend, it is as simple as that.”
