GOALKEEPER Stuart Moore would love to extend his stay at Swindon Town beyond the end of this season – but admits he does not know yet what the future holds.

Moore is amongst a number of Town players who see their contracts expire at the conclusion of the current campaign, with key man Matt Taylor the most high-profile of those.

That could mean Saturday’s home game against League Two champions Accrington Stanley is the final game in Swindon colours for several of the current squad.

Moore only arrived at the Energy Check County Ground back in January, with the 23-year-old signing on a free transfer from non-league side Barrow to add more competition between the posts.

Having been recruited by David Flitcroft, Moore’s Town debut did not actually come until the first game after his shock departure from the club back at the start of March.

However, the former Reading trainee has since started nine of Swindon’s last 10 games after being handed his chance following a wrist injury to Reice Charles-Cook.

With uncertainty still surrounding the future of current Town manager Phil Brown, Moore says his own fate is also up in the air, although he is eager to stay on in Wiltshire should the chance arise.

“That is part of football, you are never really sure what is going to happen,” said Moore, who kept his second clean sheet for Town in last weekend’s goalless draw at Colchester United.

“You looked at the last manager and thought he is going to be here for a while. Then the next thing you know, he has gone.

“It is all part of football, whether you are in contract or not. Managers come and go, and you have just got to do your best every time you are in the eye.

“I have very much enjoyed my time here. Hopefully that will continue but we will just see what happens come the summer.

“All I can do is perform in every game I play in and train hard. Hopefully that will get noticed.”

After a run of eight starts in a row for Moore, Charles-Cook returned to the fold a fortnight ago for the 1-0 defeat at home to Grimsby Town – a result that sealed Swindon’s failure to claim a place in the play-offs come the end of the season.

However, that coincided with an injury for Moore and he promptly reclaimed his place at Colchester last weekend, with Charles-Cook dropping out of the matchday squad altogether as punishment for turning up late to training.

Moore added: “It was nice to come back in. I was disappointed not to play against Grimsby. I actually dislocated my thumb during the week so was ruled out, but it was good to be back in the side.

“For the first couple of days it was quite swollen, but I was determined to get back in the side, I wasn’t going to miss out on any football.

“Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and get through it.”
