Adver Sport run the rule over the Swindon Town players out of contract at the Energy Check County Ground at the end of the season.

Those marked with an * have not had the length of their contract reported by the club and are presumed to have signed a one-year deal last summer.

WILL HENRY

Position: Goalkeeper

Age: 19

2017-18 Appearances: 1

WAS Town’s regular back-up keeper during the 2016-17 campaign but dropped down the order this season and spent time away on loan to gain experience. Still has promise for the future and highly thought of given his England U19s recognition.

STUART MOORE

Position: Goalkeeper

Age: 23

2017-18 Appearances: 10

ONLY joined the club in January as cover after Lawrence Vigouroux was cast out in the cold but finished the season as Town’s first-choice keeper and produced a series of reliable performances. Would make a decent understudy.

KYLE KNOYLE*

Position: Defender

Age: 21

2017-18 Appearances: 21

AN early injury meant the youngster had to wait until Halloween to make his Town debut but featured more regularly as the campaign wore on and a series of encouraging displays show plenty to be positive about for the future.

RYAN MCGIVERN

Position: Defender

Age: 28

2017-18 Appearances: 6

SIGNED in the final weeks of the season after Swindon were struck by a defensive injury crisis. Look assured without being spectacular, although was not aided by the fact his centre-back partner chopped and changed game by game.

MATT PRESTON

Position: Defender

Age: 23

2017-18 Appearances: 26

SIGNED on a free transfer outside of the window last September when Town needed cover at the back and quickly established himself as a defensive lynchpin. The team’s progress was badly hurt by his season-ending injury in February.

BEN PURKISS*

Position: Defender

Age: 34

2017-18 Appearances: 45

A RIGHT-BACK by trade but had to shuffle into the centre of defence in the second half of the season to cover a series of issues. Experienced head in the camp and only one Town player appeared in more games than the 34-year-old throughout the season.

CHRIS ROBERTSON*

Position: Defender

Age: 32

2017-18 Appearances: 22

THE 32-year-old was in and out of the side all season, failing to nail down a starting spot on a regular basis. Plenty of experience so a useful wise old head within the squad but a shortage of pace has been exposed on occasion.

MATT TAYLOR

Position: Defender

Age: 36

2017-18 Appearances: 41

A REAL positive from the campaign. A stand-out performer more often than not and admirably took on the managerial reins for a brief spell during a crisis point following David Flitcroft’s shock departure. Scored a number of stunning goals too.

ELLIS IANDOLO

Position: Midfielder

Age: 20

2017-18 Appearances: 17

WAS probably hoping for a breakout season but the 20-year-old began it on the treatment table and when he did get the chance to play, the natural attacking midfielder was largely deployed in a very unfamiliar left wing-back role.

AMINE LINGANZI*

Position: Midfielder

Age: 28

2017-18 Appearances: 29

A PHYSICAL presence in the middle of the park is different to what we have grown accustomed to at Town. A regular early on, chipping in with goals too, but another badly hampered by injury and played just a handful of times since New Year’s Day.

DONAL MCDERMOTT

Position: Midfielder

Age: 28

2017-18 Appearances: 21

Scored a stunner to seal Town victory in just his third match at Morecambe but a succession of fitness issues has halted him ever since. Shows signs of attacking quality out wide at times but needs more consistency.

TOM OULDRIDGE*

Position: Midfielder

Age: 19

2017-18 Appearances: 0

HANDED a first professional contract at the club at the end of last season but given no chance whatsoever to make the step up this term. Appeared in development games while being away on loan at Southern League side Cirencester Town.

TOM SMITH*

Position: Midfielder

Age: 20

2017-18 Appearances: 0

A REAL favourite amongst Swindon supporters but cannot quite catch his break for a consistent first-team place. Lots of credit in the bank from past campaigns and excelled while on loan at Bath City in National League South, with 11 goals in 31 games.

SCOTT TWINE*

Position: Forward

Age: 18

2017-18 Appearances: 4

ANOTHER who signed pro terms last season but had to be patient as joined National League South side Chippenham Town early on. Returned to the County Ground and given a maiden first-team start in the back-end of the campaign. Held in high regard at the club.
