SWINDON Town could have one of the strongest goalkeeping partnerships in League Two next season with Lawrence Vigouroux set to return to the club from Waterford, according to manager Phil Brown.

The club announced on Wednesday morning that Stuart Moore had been offered a deal for next season while Vigouroux remains under contract until the end of next season.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Vigouroux was sent on loan to League of Ireland Premier side Waterford after disciplinary issues under former Town boss David Flitcroft in February - a deal that runs until next month.

However, the 24-year-old has returned to take part in Town’s training sessions since Brown took charge at County Ground in March.

Meanwhile Moore appeared 10 times under Brown and kept clean sheets against Colchester, Accrington Stanley and Carlisle during the League Two run-in.

The potential of both goalkeepers excites Brown, who goes as far to say the partnership could be one of the strongest in the division.

“I like a good goalkeeper that makes good decisions and catches crosses, that takes pressure off your back four,” said Brown.

“If I can get Lawrence and Stuart next season, I think that department will be one of the better departments in the division.

“Clean sheets a lot of the time are down to good defending in front of him, but other times they were down to good shot-stopping and decision making by Stuart.”

While Moore looks set to remain, Reice Charles-Cook departs, having been released by the club.

Brown revealed disciplinary issues with the former Coventry City stopper during his time at Town, adding Moore’s approach to training better suited his style of coaching.

Brown said: “Stuart (Moore) is one them professionals.

“A lot of the time Cookie (Reice Charles-Cook) was trying to be the clown around the changing room, the funny one that makes everyone laugh.

“But Stuart would often ignore it and get on with his work.

“But at the same time, he did it with a smile on his face - he didn’t have to be the clown.

“He reminded me a lot of Dan Bentley, who I worked with at Southend United.

“We sold him for £1.3million.

“He reminds me of his attitude and desire to work and seek out opportunities on the training ground.

“That for me will get Stuart Moore a career in the game.”
