MORE than 200 teams took part in Highworth Town’s annual six-a-side tournament at the weekend.
The under 7s were divided into four groups with the most sporting team in group A going to Greenmeadow.
In group B Robins were given the award and Highworth Town West and Ferndale Rodbourne won it in groups C and D.
The groups yielded two player of the day awards, which went to Liden’s Mitchell Neish and Ferndale Rodbourne’s Rhys Wells.
In the under 8s the most sporting team in group A was Swindon Rangers A, and the player of the day was Luke Haines.
In group B Lambourn scooped the award and Will Stanton was player of the day.
Stratton Juniors were the most sporting team in group C and Max Matthews was awarded player of the day.
In the under 9s Ardington triumphed 4-0 over Purton Youth and Wroughton Rovers A beat Greenmeadow B 2-1 on penalties in the under 10s.
Rodborough Hawkes sealed a dramatic 3-2 win on spot kicks over Highworth Town X in the under 11s, while in the under 12s Blunsdon Colts X beat FC Abbeymeads 2-1.
In the under 13s, Highworth Town C edged a 1-0 victory over Croft A and in the under 14s, AFC Newbury beat Croft A by the same scoreline.
Wayne’s Allstars were champions in the under 15s as they saw off Faringdon Town 1-0.
Oxfordshire outfit Cholsey Bluebirds beat Kidlington 1-0 on penalties in the under 12s girls’ competition.
Swindon Spitfires took the honours in the under 14s category with a 1-0 victory over Bardwell Girls.
