MORE than 120 teams turned out for Lydiard Youth FC’s annual six-a-side tournament at the weekend.
Sides from Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Berkshire took part in the event, which was played in glorious sunshine at The Premier Club.
In the under 7s category on Saturday morning, Wootton Bassett were crowned fair play winners.
The first competitive champions were Yate B in the under 11s, who defeated Shaw A 2-0 in the final. Home side Lydiard Youth B had earlier lost in the semis while Shaw B also made the last four.
In the afternoon, Elite Soccer narrowly beat Blunsdon Colts 2-1 for the under 9s title, with Liden Community and Croft A both beaten semi-finalists.
The other victors on the first day were Stratton Juniors in the under 13s. They defeated Highworth Town Juniors A 1-0, after both had previously overcome Croft and Eldene Rangers A.
Day two brought more good weather as Eldene Rangers opened up proceedings by scooping the under 8s fair play award.
GESS A were next to be honoured as they edged out Ramsbury 1-0 in the under 12s final. Home side Lydiard Youth B and Ferndale Rodbourne reached the last four.
Sunday afternoon saw Stratton Juniors A see off Hungerford 1-0 with a golden goal, with Liden Community and Swindon Soccer Skills the losing semi-finalists.
Shrewton bagged the under 14s trophy after winning 1-0 against Amesbury. Highworth Town Juniors Reds and Devizes just missed out on the final.
