Ollie's on target for North Wilts

North Wilts hosted the final match in the Under 15 representative team league last week, beating the Oxford Mail Boys League 1-0.

The night was opened with two exhibition matches, where some of the North Wilts Sportsmanship league leaders were invited to Fairford Town FC to play, in recognition of their excellent sportmanship marks throughout the season.

In the Under 9 age group, Ferndale Rodbourne took on Hungerford Town, with Hungerford coming out on top 8-1.

Scorers for Hungerford were Bradley Wood (5), Alex Miller (2), and Jordan Carter. Ferndale's reply came from Lewis Brown, his first ever goal for Ferndale.

In the Under 10s, Ashton Keynes took on Brinkworth Cats B, and in a closely-contested game Ashton Keynes came away 2-0 winners, with goals from Barnaby Napier and Dan Jackson.

n North Wilts League under 15s won the inter league representative team competition by beating their Oxford counterparts in the play off final.

In what was often a physical encounter, the North Wilts players overcame strong opposition and created enough chances to win comfortably.

The victory was secured by captain Ollie Armstrong, midway through the first half, when he finished accurately from the edge of the box after fine play by Rekowski and Skeates. North Wilts went on to dominate the game and were unfortunate not to increase their lead after man of the match Josh Skeates out-jumped the defence and was denied as the ball rebounded off of the cross bar.

As with many of the team's performances the success was built on a solid defensive performance. The outstanding McCarthy, Cole, Lowe and Southby at the heart of the defence enabled impressive midfield play, in which Luke Giles and Kris Redford caused many problems for their opponents.
