HASNEY Aljofree is confident Moses Ashikodi will become a real thorn in the side of League One defences this campaign - having experienced first hand the striker's pace and strength.

The former Watford frontman struggled to make an impression in Saturday's full debut at Gresty Road but Aljofree has urged the County Ground faithful to stay patient and they will reap the rewards.

Ashikodi, (pictured above) was on loan at Bradford last campaign when they drew 2-2 with Oldham Athletic, where Aljofree himself was enjoying a loan spell from Plymouth.

He said: "When I was at Oldham last year he played for Bradford, we drew 2-2 but he was really strong.

"He gave our centre halves a right seeing to that day. This was his first game and I don't think he looked fully fit but he worked really hard.

"Maybe it was a bit too far for him but hopefully he will get that fitness and he will be a right handful for any team in this league.

"We have fantastic options. Hopefully we do get Simon Cox as well because everyone loves centre forwards. They win you games and I hope we do get Coxy because that puts pressure on players to produce.

"As defenders it is great for us if they can score the goals."

Town's players and fans will have mixed feelings at picking up a reasonable point in Cheshire against a poor-looking Crewe side.

Skipper Aljofree said: "It depends how you look at it really. I think we started well and deserved to score somewhere in the game. I know they had a couple of chances but being the home team they have to create things.

"I thought our penetration today, especially down the left side, was fantastic. It was Anthony McNamee's first game and he has done really well and when Christian Roberts came on he looked dangerous as well.

"I thought if we would have got the goal it would have been comfortable."
