TOWN suffered their first defeat in four games to be dragged back into the League One relegation scrap, as they went down 1-0 away at west country rivals Yeovil Town this afternoon.
Jonathan Obika's cool finish was the difference between the sides as the Yeovil striker beat the offside trap to slot home after 33 minutes.
It was no more than the Glovers deserved after being much the better side, against a Swindon team who only seriously threatened the opposition goal twice all game.
Town's cause wasn't helped either by early injuries to Sean Morrison and Hal Robson-Kanu, with both players being forced off inside the opening 25 minutes.
Here are the key moments from today's game:
Nine mins: Yeovil produce the first shot of the match, but Andros Townsend can only drag his right-footed effort well wide from the edge of the box.
13 mins (SUBSTITUTION): Town are forced into an early change. As Sean Morrison cleared a corner, Yeovil skipper Terrell Forbes crunched into his ankle with a late challenge.
Forbes is booked for the foul, but Morrison is unable to recover and Jerel Ifil is brought on to replace him.
18 mins: Kevin Amankwaah decides to leave Gary Roberts' deep cross from the right, but fails to notice Jonathan Obika lurking behind him.
The Glovers front man has a free header, but fails to even hit the target.
23 mins: Town's best moment of the game so far. Hal Robson-Kanu angles a superb pass into the path of Billy Paynter.
He takes a couple of touches before unleashing a fierce drive across goal, but Yeovil keeper Chris Weale produces a good stop to keep the ball out.
25 mins (SUBSTITUTION): Injury forces Swindon boss Danny Wilson into another change. Robson-Kanu limps off to be replaced by youngster Callum Kennedy.
25 mins: A Yeovil corner is only partially cleared to the edge of the box, but David Noble's strike bobbles just the wrong side of the upright.
30 mins: Townsend curls a 35-yard free-kick into the box, but no-one manages to get a touch and it bounces agonisingly wide with Phil Smith static.
33 mins (GOAL 1-0): Yeovil take a deserved lead. Paul Warne slips a ball through and as Town try to step up for offside Obika races through, keeps his composure and lifts the ball over Phil Smith from six yards out.
40 mins: Simon Cox lays the ball back to Callum Kennedy and the youngster shanks a cross high into the air. Paynter challenges Weale and outjumps the keeper, but sends his header over the bar.
54 mins: Gavin Tomlin collects the ball 25 yards out, steps forward and curls a low effort goalwards, but Phil Smith gets down well to smother the ball.
58 mins: Townsend curls a 25-yard free-kick straight into the arms of Phil Smith after Gordon Greer was penalised for a foul.
61 mins: Swindon suddenly spark into life. Kennedy's dangerous low cross from the left is attacked by Cox at the near post.
However, his prodded strike is turned away for a corner by Weale.
62 mins: Yeovil break at speed as Town give the ball away and Phil Smith makes a superb one-on-one stop to deny Tomlin.
64 mins: Town go route one as Phil Smith's long goal kick is headed into the path of Cox by Paynter. But the prolific striker cannot add to his tally as he screws his first-time shot well wide.
70 mins: Cox misses a great chance to get Swindon level. After neat interplay involving Lilian Nalis and Kevin Amankwaah, Anthony McNamee delivers a cross to the far post where Cox meets it unmarked, but directs his header wide.
74 mins: Yeovil should have the game out of sight. Townsend gets the better of Amankwaah down the right and his cross finds Tomlin at the front post, but the striker fails to hit the target.
76 mins (SUBSTITUTION): Danny Wilson makes his final change of the afternoon, replacing Lilian Nalis with Michael Pook, as he tries to bring some energy to Town's midfield.
82 mins: Phil Smith is called into action again, this time to deny Obika's low volley across the face of goal.
90 mins: Yeovil substitute Luke Rodgers races down the left and his cross finds Obika, whose rising effort has to be palmed away by Phil Smith.
YEOVIL (4-4-2): Chris Weale; Danny Hutchins, Lee Peltier, Terrell Forbes (c), Nathan Smith; Paul Warne (Keiran Murtagh 88), Gary Roberts, David Noble, Andros Townsend; Gavin Tomlin (Luke Rodgers 78), Jonathan Obika
Subs not used: Nathan Jones, Andrew Welsh, Daniel Schofield

Amankwa you were a disgrace, Timlin and Nallis, both absent without leave. This one hurts: Macnamee - a luxury player we can ill afford, always the wrong place at the wrong time, no guts to get back.
I could go on and on, but I'll give praise to Phil Smith, who although a bit shakey had a pretty good game. Coxy was his normal running self but missed an easy header (at least looked easy from our end of the ground), the rest of them should be ashamed to pick up their wages this week. We are back in the sh*t and if we get relegated we can honestly look back on this game as the one that turned the season in side out !!!

I really hate criticising the team especially after the fine run of games we've had but today was woeful, it looked like they had all been out on the lash last night.

It was about another gutless display. A display full of inferior confidence, poor passing, marking, tackling, you name it, we were devoid of it all.
Utter rubbish, the run comes to an end and it was only a matter of time.
I believe we will survive the drop a little more than I did a few weeks ago, but still maintain my opinion on this current bunch of wastrs. 3/4 of them need to be off loaded in the summer.

I disagree, is that ok with you? Or do I need your permission to have a different view to you?
I thought my point of view was very clear, I'm surprised that someone who is so opinionated himself struggles to see the opinion of another.
I understood your post, I agreed with a lot of it, it was just the way you worded the last sentence made it 'appear' that you thought we lost the game yesterday due to a lack of squad.
Were you having a bad day yesterday, you seem to have gone totally defensive very easily lol.
