HAMPTON-IN-ARDEN 1 WORCESTER NORTON 6
WORCESTER Norton men hit six of the best in this DTZ Midlands League Division One match at in-form Hampton-in-Arden who had beaten the leaders the week before.
After excellent work from Alex Kotlarzewski and Jon Sprague, Worcester were awarded a penalty corner inside the first 20 seconds which Chris Adams converted with a cool drag flick.
The next 20 minutes saw Hampton camped inside the Worcester half but with fine tackling from Ian Ewers, James Cosh and Matt Baumber the opposition could not create any chances.
As the home side started to tire from their high work rate, Worcester began to reverse the pattern and on one of their many forays into the opposition circle, South African international Marvin Bam collected the first of yet another hat-trick of goals in what has been a remarkable season.
After the break the game opened up as the opposition could not maintain their work rate and the gaps started to appear.
After ten minutes Hampton were awarded a penalty corner and scored to get them back into the match.
This fired up Worcester and goals from Neil Davids, Jon Sprague and another two from Bam finished the scoring, although Kotlarzewski narrowly missed a penalty flick.
Afterwards, captain Ewers said: "This was a very professional performance by us considering Hampton are a very capable side who punished the league leaders the previous weekend."
He added: "The first 20 minutes was real muck and bullets stuff, but we knew that they could not maintain their work rate and once they tired we capitalised."
Worcester entertain Old Halesonians on Saturday at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre (1.30pm).
