Paolo maintains top-six stance while question mark hangs over loan stars (From Swindon Advertiser)

Crucial we keep the loan players if the money's there of course!

Agree with PDC, wants to win every game but is realistic enough to say that it will become tricky to maintain our position if we lose four players at once, some of which have already become important to us, and some like Martin who may give us an edge. Need to try and hang on to them if we can.

Without Ward AND Boatock it will be very very hard

I don't think there will be a problem with Darren Ward, John Bostock will be in the last 6 months of his contract, so it could be hard to keep him if Spurs or another club make him a better deal than we can afford. First impressions I hope Holland and Martin are extended. Not too bothered if Coke doesn't return, have not seen enough of him to form an opinion. Like him or not I think we got Adam Rooney for the season. So if we only lose one, we can live with that, but we do have Caddis, Risser, Cox, Luke Rooney and Benson all due to return at some point, so a lot of shuffling of the pack to keep within the financial restraints.

Ward has not missed a defensive header in recent weeks and for me is getting better after a slow start.. Need to hang onto him.

fully agreed we need to do everything to keep these 4 players. Hopefully the board see this.

If Paolo sees it this way he`ll be sure to convey his thoughts to the board..

Caddis is on a season long loan so we won't see him again .

Ward is gonna be a big , big loss if he goes back and worse still he could go on loan to a rival in L1..

The 2 boys who came in on Saturday are well worth keeping too.

Flipflop thank you for confirming this. Exactly as I thought. Hopefully others will realise the extent to which this whole club is being dragged upwards by our manager that expects nothing but the best.

As for the players, Ward is doing well but I don't think it would ruin our season if he left. (I hope he doesn't mind). Also I've always felt we would try and buy Bostock from the proceeds of Caddis in January. Time will tell. Hopefully Charlie is off to which eases any financial worries..

Guess a lot will depend on our players who are on loan staying where they are or finding them new clubs,otherwise the club just may overspend again is that possible??
As to Charlie Austin my Pal who is Director has just gone back to UK.
He did say 3 clubs were in for CA and although he did not give a lot away the price would be high as they don't want to see him go.Yet as he said if price is right he would go.
As to what % the Town would get he gave nothing away other than it would be a substantial amount.
So fingers crossed for Pdc players out on loan can stay on loan and hopefullly get a windfall from Burnely If CA is sold.
Still is all if's and buts and with Burnley getting a good chunk Of compo coming there way from Bournemouth they don't really want to sell.
Makes you think we all imagine all sorts put our opinion in the post and more than likely are 90% wrong.

Up until the Macclesfield game I'd have said please send Ward back. However since Joe's gone into the centre he's been a different player. I don't think he's lost out on a defensive header, he actually looks to make a pass ok only to McEvely or maybe Bostock but he still tries now. And he's made a few absolutely crucial tackles and interceptions. If he continues to play like this I'll happily say I was wrong about him and would want him to the end of season.

A general consensus of the major Bookmakers on the promotion and relegation scene of League One is as follows :-
Automatic Promotion - Sheffield Utd & M.K.Dons.
Play-Offs - Swindon Town, Tranmere Rovers, Bournemouth & Notts County.
Relegation Places - Shrewsbury Town, Bury, Portsmouth & Hartlepool.

As I've predicted from the start of the season we are winning the league, MK Dons second, Sheff Utd third. (Wilson's teams always blow up at death).....

Tranmere and Stevenage will, I reckon drop off a bit, Tranmere may make the play offs but who knows. Reckon we'll do well to make a top six finish but hoping in the back of my mind that we can nab once of the top two places.

Wouldn't write off Shrewsbury as relegation fodder just yet, also have a sneaking suspicion Pompey may stay up but the bookies will be working on current places as well. Would also love it if the franchise missed out - and get knocked out of cup Sunday, but can't see either happening.

True that we don't know who will be with us in a months time, but we've still got a strong squad. We will miss Bostock if we are unable to keep him, but how many games have Hollands and Martin actually played to get us to where we are. How much will we miss them?

It may be a bit optimistic or even naive to believe that we will finish in the top 6, but do we really need all these energency loans? We made it to the top 6 even with injuries in the squad. Ward is great, but we do already have a strong defensive line and as for Hollands and Martin... are they the key players in maintaining a top 6 place?

Really think most of you are under estimating the strength of our squad. After all even Grim who thinks we will win the league has written off Willo and Collins.... I have not....

No I think you seriously underestimate PDC and I think that he has shown over the last few months that he won't just jump ship due to not getting the cash when he wants it.

IF no other team wonts them then we have no other option as they are all under contract with Swindon Town FC..
They will be on a good wage as well and that will put alot of other clubs off

Re: Caddis, where did I say I thought he would play for us again, maybe my English is not so good as them from North of the border, he is our player and as far as financials are concerned his salary has to be taken into account when the decision makers sit down with their abacus and work out how much is coming in and going out, only then will Paolo know how much he has in the kitty to spend, Doh.
