It's all about opinions LR. I would add Navarro, Miller, Roberts and Archibald-Henville to your list of misses. There was much talk of "great signings" when some of these players joined, just because they'd come from clubs in a higher division. I don't think any one of them has justified that fanfare.

Having said all that, I think PDC - with generous assistance from Mr Black - has managed to fashion a side capable of promotion. And I remain unconvinced that we need another striker. We have Collins, Williams and Martin with De Vita also able to play as a main striker and Storey coming through. That's a pretty strong striking department I reckon, and one I think many clubs at our level would be jealous of. I would rather see us trimming costs by getting rid of some players than increasing them by signing more. However, if we are going to lose Martin (with Norwich saying "thanks very much for improving his fitness and all-round game"?) and/or Hollands, then I would agree that we need to strengthen. In that case, like Chish and Fips, I would have my fingers firmly crossed.

New Year wish list: Town to be promoted, Reading to be relegated and Bristol City to escape the drop. Then we can renew rivalries with the clubs we should have in our sights. I've always seen City as our main local rivals. That League Cup win at their place last season was sweet. It would be great to have the chance to regain the local bragging rights in the League. It's been far too long.

Don't see Bristol City surviving. I went to watch them at home to Hull a few days before our match against Villa and they were abjectly poor to say the least, clueless in all departments. Unless they get rid of the Manager in the next 2 weeks I would expect us to take their place next season. A local derby against Reading would then be a high probability.

Ward the big hit of the new signings, hope we can sign him up on a permanent.

Williams looks very good and the best of the rest for me, just needs to add a few more goals and I think he will if he can stay fit.

From what I've seen of Hollands he also looks very good and well worth signing on for longer.

The other hits have all done ok, but no better than that IMO, I think they will all admit that if they are honest.

I don't think anyone has been an outright miss a la Comazzi or Lanzano. Rooney has scored more than Martin but admittedly hasn't looked a Championship player.

Hope we can sign at least a forward and a left back, and would like a back up keeper but guess that won't happen.

If we can retain Ward, Bostock Martin and Hollands for rest of season that would be good business, would think Ward and Martin should be possible, Bostock and Hollands may be less likely.

LR, I don't base my view of players on expectations. When a player joins us I have hopes of course, but no expectations. I prefer to see what they can do for us first. To be honest I think Navarro, Roberts, Miller and Archibald-Henville have all looked very ordinary.

Den - fair enough - though I personally can't see how you can wipe the slate totally clean as the past always gives you a base of what to expect - which is why the unheard of ones normally get more time as people don't know what to expect

Granted none of those have made the same impact as say Wes did - but they certainly have not been poor - thus we are top 6 and had a good cup run with them playing an active role in that
