GRAPHICS students at Halesowen College have been working on a fantasy computer illustration project designing motorbike helmets and tanks with StreetBike.

The winner was Richard Hawkins, aged 18, and second place went to Adam McCabe, also 18.

Joint third place was given to Alex Duncan, aged 17 and Stephanie Palmer, aged 18.

The group visited the Mucklow Hill company where marketing expert Carl Dodds talked to them about the challenges of promoting the fast growing field of motorbikes.

The young designers looked at the bikes, clothing, accessories and equipment to research and understand the market.

Mr Dodds and airbrush artist Dean Bromley judged the designs which are on display and the winner received a bag of bike-related goodies.

Graphics course leader Gill Dunkerley is looking for other companies who would like to work with students on a range of projects.

She said: “We would love to work with more local businesses and this project with StreetBike gives our students the exposure to someone in the promotions industry and to have their work critiqued.

“Many of them are headed to university but all our students need to understand the challenges of real life work for their careers ahead.”

Anyone interested in helping should contact Gill Dunkerley on 0121 602 7777 ext 300 or email gdunkerely@halesowen.ac.uk
