SWINDON TOWN: Miles not expecting England call

MILES Storey does not expect to be considered for England Under 19s’ clash with Denmark on February 5, after spending five weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The 19-year-old was called into Noel Blake’s squad for the 1-0 victory over Finland in November after impressing the selectors with goals against Stevenage and Aston Villa, but he has not featured for Paolo Di Canio’s Robins since the 1-0 home defeat to Brentford on November 20.

A lack of match action was compounded by a medial ligament tear, from which Storey has only recently recovered, and therefore the young forward is not anticipating another national summons just yet.

“It’s a bit early, to be fair, I think there’s a game February time but with this injury I might be overlooked a bit because I haven’t really played much since that game,” he said.

“I understand that as well, you can’t expect to be picked if you’re not playing so I understand.

“The injury is a bit frustrating because it came at the wrong time but I’m back now and hopefully I can train well and get back in the squad.”
