SWINDON TOWN: Paolo - Sale would unify club
6:00am Monday 21st January 2013 in STFC News Exclusive By Sam Morshead
Town boss Paolo Di Canio
PAOLO Di Canio says the fact that Swindon Town is for sale should help all aspects of the club work together with a single unified goal.
The Robins manager had stated in the weeks before Town officially confirmed they are on the lookout for a new owner that he did not know why further funds were not forthcoming from the board, as he tries to steer his side to promotion from League One.
However, after majority shareholder Andrew Black openly revealed he is keen to hand over the reins at the County Ground, Di Canio believes everyone has a clearer understanding of the issues hanging around the club and what needs to be done in the near future.
The Italian stressed that he is disappointed Black wants to walk away, saying he would like the Betfair co-founder to stay for another 20 years, but he understands his reasoning and is grateful that everything is now out in the open.
“I always take the positives from the news,” he said. “The fact that we didn’t have a clear picture was worse. Now we know that the club is for sale, it’s public and Andrew Black did well until today. He paid a lot of money. I can’t blame Andrew Black because he gave me the opportunity to come in here. He gave a lot of money in the last few years.
“Maybe it could have come out a bit earlier because the situation started in September with the embargo and we weren’t sure what they were doing. Now it is better later than never and it is clear. Now I’m positive because it’s clear and when something is clear you can work in one direction.
“It’s more than positive, not because he wants to sell the club because that is negative. I want to have him for 20 years spending money for this club, but he doesn’t want to do this anymore. Never mind, we have to work.
“Now we have one direction. If we work together in one direction we can do a very good job for this club.”
The Adver understands that one of the parties originally involved in discussions to buy up the bulk of Black’s 98 per cent holding in the club has now withdrawn that interest.
There remain several potential new owners currently assessing the state of play at the County Ground. Meanwhile, it is understood that reports suggesting Di Canio’s agent, Phil Spencer, is heading one interested consortium are wide of the mark.

.
Whilst Black needs to sell 'pretty darn quick' it would have a really negative impact to go into admin.
.
The question we don't know the answer to is - Can he afford to continue to pay the wages through February and into March?....
.
When is payday officially as 4 away days don't help revenues and expenditure?

Black is in a very tricky financial position now and can't put any more money in.....I think his position is far worse than I mentioned back in October and is slightly worrying from that angle but I can't believe that we can't avoid admin for another month or so at least. . It may also be wishful thinking, but PDC seems incredibly calm about the whole thing, so much so that I get the feeling he has already met with some of our potential new investors and has liked what he heard.
The value of Black's shares will diminish if he pulls the plug at this point, so my guess is he will continue to bankroll it for as long as negotiations are ongoing. His 'threat' is no doubt more intended to move these discussions along so that we remain in contention for automatic promotion which will do wonders for any new investors share values once we are in the Championship.

Unless he is working behind the scenes in that case apoligies from me however can you see that happening???????
Yes wages/vat Black I belive will cover wages until the end of Feb is that correct?????
We all have heard bits and Pieces, the Chairman the CEO/Pdc however we do not have a clue what really is on the cards.
We are all jumping around like headless chickens.
All Pdc can do is keep wining games as if we are going into admin this time round will not be 10 points who know's what will happen.
I guess it's the NOT KNOWING that P///es us all off, still we await any news and knowing how we have been messed on over the years nothing will surprise us.
So let's keep our heads up get to the CG those who can afford it.
Just hope Mr Black rethinks all this until may as in any senareo looks as if he will lose money

We all have to hope that Patey IS working behind the scenes and that he will not and indeed cannot discuss such business matters, least of all on here!
If I am wrong, we are all on The Titanic and sinking into administration looms!!

I don't want administration mentioned, but will it come to pass in the end?
